Its all to do with territory really matt, We get around 20 plus blue tits in the garden during winter, But when we get to February you see the numbers dropping daily. End up with around 4-6, The male won't let another male in his territory he doesn't mind the females that's why sometimes you get later nests of second females or even third females. So I think the dramatic number drop is all down to the territory.
