I think the brightness of my LEDs is almost certainly lower than the standard 12v kit - mine is 5v and about 200mA, lots of separate LEDs but each one is not that bright so it is distributed (also behind a frosted plastic), so I don't reckon its brightness tbh. Could just be luck of the draw, which is probably the most likely explanation.. I'll still run a couple with the lights off next year, and switch them on/slowly bring up the brightness if I get any takers (once they are well established).
