Thanks Pete, Amanda and GBH. Yes, I was on about keeping the laptop on to monitor/record any movements etc. This is a redundant laptop that isn’t used for anything else as I use an iPad for everything else I need. Usually have it on from around 8:00 in the morning and until pesky rooster comes in at night (thought he’d have left now we have good weather 
), during which time it captures short videos of any visits and at all other times it powers down. Haven’t a clue as to how to link it to my iPad or tv and, extension cables anywhere are a no no. Laptop is sat on a table behind sofa , out of sight which pleases ‘himself’ 
. Was just concerned about overheating, but understand from all your posts that not likely to if just used for birdies and nothing else going on. Thank you for your help. Us oldies need as much help as we can get
