Oh, and another thing I just remembered.
If you have all the above already in place i.e the three headed BNC cable....
Another very important point with the HikVision software is that you have to make sure you have the birdbox cable connected up to the correct channel at the back, that provides the audio.
Although the ports may all look the same at the back of the DVR, if, like my DVR which has only 4 channels and only one audio input, then when I scroll down through the menu setup, I can see the set up options for each channel which highlights that they are not all the same.
When you go into the options, it says something like: Channel 1: Video setup, Channel 2: Video setup, Channel 3: Video setup and then suddenly one will say Channel 4: Video/Audio setup... (Note: This is from memory and not the exact words!!!)
So ensure that you also have your BNC cable connected up to the channel that provides the video and audio.
In your case you have 8 channels, so perhaps on the software set up options, only two channels will have the Video/Audio setup options. Look out for them.
