Hi Sammi,
Just on the sound.... if you have a HikVisin DVR, which I think you have, it uses a BNC cable - so just in case you are not aware, there are two types of CCTV BNC cables.
The first type of BNC cable just comes with video capabilities, so it looks like one cable with two heads on both ends.... a BNC connection and power connection.....one powers the camera, the other supplies the visual feed.
But an video/audio CCTV BNC cable has a cable that splits into three heads.... a BNC connection (Video), a power supply, and an RCA male jack (Audio)
You plug the BNC into one of your DVR channels, the power supply for powering your camera, and the third connection you need to plug into an audio input port at the back of your DVR.
If you do not have both the BNC and the RCA jack plugged into the back of the DVR, then you won't get any sound, just visuals.
Maybe you have done this, but I thought I'd just pipe in as a starting point....
I have seen some DVRs that do not come with an audio input port at all??? and some DVRs come with just one audio input, like mine.
As an example, all my cameras have audio capabilities, but as I only have a 4 channel DVR, for some reason, it only comes with one sound input port so I can ever only have one camera with audio feed on at any one time...leaving the other three without sound (big flaw in my opinion, but seems to be the norm?)
I've often had to unplug the RCA jack on one camera, and plug in the other one quickly, when I've activity going on in both boxes. Really annoying system, but there you go!
It seems for HikVision DVRS that if you have an 8 channel DVR, it comes with two audio inputs, and if you've a 16 channel it comes with 4 audio and so on. I dont' know why???
