Oh I'd be the same Sue...I'd be thinking of all kinds of ways to 'intervene'....but wouldn't eventually do anything of course.
Hopefully, the needs of this female & her nest will outweigh the needs of this "non-affiliated" rooster and he'll just head off. From what I see from past posts on this forum, the male roosters do seem to leave around this time of year anyway, as the weather gets more mild.
Maybe he's just waiting on his lease to formally expire so he can get his deposit back.
