Hi Everyone,
This message has been written & saved in Notepad, a bit at a time over 10 days, as I can't type much at all because it hurts too much to bend forward to type for too long. I check in here everyday though & read your messages but as you may have noticed, I only click the Like button to them. On 1st March, I had an excruciating pain from my lower back all the way down my left side including my foot. My foot & leg swelled up and then my foot became numb.
To cut a long story short, I ended up being taken to A&E for a suspected spinal injury & thoroughly examined, good news is no damage to my spine. I have muscle damage all down my left hand side which is affecting my sciatic nerve. They were wonderful & I am now on prescribed pain killers, but was told that it could take many weeks or even months before I can walk properly again.
I can't go upstairs so sleeping in the lounge & I do recommended exercises so I can walk slowly into the kitchen, but can't straighten my back when doing so. This is tiring, so I sit down then & can straighten my back but only then. Can't get dressed either, so night attire & pop socks on with slippers - not the best dressed lady in the road! My husband is looking after me, gets up immediately when I get up to give me my pills as the pain is awful then.
It looks like as from this weekend, we'll both be confined as I am 76 & Gerry is 81. The couple next door have told us that they will do all our shopping for us & give any more help we need, for as you know, online shopping is a dead loss at the moment. It was wonderful to receive an unexpected message from our daughter Debra on Monday, who lives in Nottingham - as below.
------------
After watching the news you may have to start self isolating sooner than thought. Supermarket deliveries look like they are not happening quickly enough due to high demand. If Nas and Carole can't get your shopping done for you - please, please let me know and we will come up and do it and leave it on your doorstep. Please promise me you will tell me?! xx
