Your box would be perfect for hibernating, You wouldn't even need to add a "tunnel" it would help stop a cat getting in though so maybe for that reason.
If you want the box to be only for sleeping / hibernating do not put food inside, Hedgehogs like there own space, They won't sleep in something that is a food source as it will attract other hogs.
Believe me they fight over the boxes that is how I ended up with 4 boxes
what your best doing is keeping the food one strictly for food and making a second one and filling it with hay / straw you can put food near the house just wouldn't inside.
