He could be using it for "napping" at the moment we have one who does this in ours, He / She normally comes around 9pm and will nap in the hog box between feeding its there all night and sometimes sleeps up to a hour in the box at a time goes out gets food and water comes back in but by morning its gone.
At the moment I only have 1 that uses the box fully and sleeps in it all day, My other 2 are "nappers"
I did have the little hoglet sleep over the other day though so he / she must of come late for food and sunrise was happening so it slept.
Your box being used for resting is only a good sign that is how all mine started
