I think I have just been very lucky with them using my boxes straight away, All 3 of my boxes are in use with the 4th one due for delivery next week.
I didn't ever put food in the box, I thought they wouldn't sleep where food knowing it will attract other hogs etc.
I just let them find it natural, I think what works for me is nobody in my road will be feeding them or having boxes out.
