I always do this with left overs, I do however leave some overnight on the shed.
We have a little family of mice that come up the shed from next doors garden and its always funny to see them taken the food away with them back down the shed
I know people would be against feeding the mice but there outdoors and harmless so I just give them bits just find it cute and funny watching them grab the food and run with it
