Hi Beechnut, lovely picture again. Strange about the doubling up etc with worms. Maybe they are learning from other birds like blackbirds, robins etc that often do this. On page 13 of Sammi’s Thread there is a photo Sammi took of her Bluetit with three mealworms in its beak. Makes far more sense but I guess it’s difficult with mealworms as they have to bite the heads off before feeding to chicks, so I guess it’s how they stop them wriggling away whilst dealing with the head bit so to speak.
