We have about 5 blackbird nests that we can actually account for, behind a shed which is close to a brickwall which in turn is covered in ivy (not counting the deserted one in the front.) We have so many blackbirds it is impossible to count them so we are very lucky.
Whilst I do not put out the suet pellets during the tit-baby season, we have one blackbird who knows exactly which plastic dustbin holds the pellets - he nearly trips me up each morning as I get the duck food out. So I take out a handful of pellets and scatter them near him on the ground - he picks up about 5 or 6 at a time, stuffing his face. He just loves them!
We have more blackbirds nesting in the holly hedges and the ivy at the bottom of the garden.
