Oh wow Kathy, things are really happening with your starlings & I'm thrilled to pieces for you. 
Our snow & ice has finally melted this morning at the front of the house, plus the back garden lawn & side borders, but the steps directly down from the house to the patio, the patio itself, plus the step down from there into the garden is still too deadly with ice for us to dare going out, as I have broken two bones in my feet in the past & I don't want a third. 
The birds have had access to food but not water, as our pond is still frozen over from last week, so hopefully tomorrow will thaw the lot.
