Sometimes the chicks do end up on the ground Twinkle. I have had this happen a few times over the years. The parents are very good at finding them and the chicks seem to know to ‘hide’ in bushes etc, or at least this is what has happened at mine in the past. The chick will keep calling and hopefully the parents find it before the cat does. Sometimes they take a few attempts before they get airborne. If possible would be a good idea to keep cat in for a few hours at least to give it a chance. Sue Cat has been in since and is still asleep indoors. I searched around for chick but have not heard it. Parent returned a few times looking into box. Tonight will check to see if other box its still being used overnight. Much easier with a cam in the box.
