You don’t suppose they have not been well and dying daily. She might have been taking them out each day and perhaps only had one left to feed
Which has eventually died. That would be the answer to the empty nest but her still feeding yesterday.
Ann, yes devastated, but as you say wouldn’t have liked to have seen dead chicks. Hopefully your Martha does a good job and goes on to fledge a few successfully.
