6.30am - Heard a bit of a commotion and looked up - a starling was mobbing the house martin nest. The parents were going crazy swooping madly at the starling which looked as if it was tying to squeeze into the nest itself, certainly it was making repeated attempts to get at the nest.
The odd thing was, the starling was being swooped on by 3 other house martins, I assumed the 2 parents and a 'friend' but after it had flown away, there was the head of a parent showing in the nest.. so another pair must have joined forces, but I cannot see another martin nest anywhere.
