Is that what they really mean by a pain in the arse Paul ?  Seriously though - the things we do for our birds. Glad everything turned out OK in the end  it will be a talking point no doubt! I had a similar event, without any human involvement, a few years back when one of the chicks was accidently pulled out of the cup by a parent as they left the box after a feed. It lay there for some time being totally ignored by the parents as they came in and out feeding the chicks in the cup, until it somehow wriggled and writhed its way back. It is odd that anything outside the cup, certainly at only a day or two after hatching, is not recognised as being part of the clutch!
