Well I never Amanda. The goings on on this thread! I hope they are not just using your box as a secret getaway. If they have mated doesn't that mean she will lay tomorrow? Or was it just a bit of courtship behaviour? I hope it is the latter and she decides to start a nest in your box. That was my thoughts exactly! I thought they didn’t want to mess their own nest up! I have watched all the triggers from later visits, the last visit of the morning ended with the female from next doors box in mine (curly toe) so the other bird, I think female flew out No activity until about 4pm until a blue tit has visited twice for about 5 minute visits each time, but on their own Im keeping my fingers and toes crossed that the weather is brighter tomorrow, it has been awful today and I will see the beginnings of a nest I have been resigned to the fact I wasn’t getting a nest this year and had accepted that, then these new two turn up! By the way......does anyone know how long is it from mating to an egg?? Do they have to mate for each egg? I saw the neighbours blue tits mating more than once
