Lovely pics Beechnut. My birds have also never taken to mealworms supplied - even when needed,as proved by last years nest, yet my son ‘steals’ my mealworms most years and his birds just totally rely on them. Obviously each bird makes its own choices re food much as we do. 
. Hopefully they will flourish with their own efforts as they very much seem to be doing. My hubby tells me off for buying them each year as he feels sorry for them - he says they have a horrid life waiting to get their heads bitten off or rotting in the midday sun and ‘cooking’ on hot days. He makes me feel really guilty .
