I just watched the video,
Are you sure its not just a piece of straw that was brought in to this box a few weeks ago stuck to his foot and he pulls it off?
I am only saying because this would make more sense, Tatty always as little bits of material that gets stuck to her feet then picks them off at hole and brings them back in.
Edit - If you watch the video more carefully you'll notice it does appear he gets it off the back of his foot nothing appears to be in his beak before he bends down and gets it off his foot.
