Oh no Paul, not the goldfinches as well?? 
Magpies are such pests, we have quite a few near me, no decline for them!!! No wonder eh, cos they’re too busy raiding every other birds nests
What you you need Paul is one of those kids bow & arrow things with the suckers on the end!
The ones what yer used to lick the end of the sucker and it used to stick to whatever yer fired at!!! Brother used to have one, & fire it at mums windows, she used to go crazy
