Need some help from anyone with birds laying at moment (or in past) PLEASE.
This photo was taken a couple of days ago with both birds at the box. There was great excitement and it was as though she was showing him something. The female kept going in the box, the male hung on the outside of the box looking in, kept flapping wings like a female begging for food. Eventually went in box, in there for few seconds then came back out. Female came out after few moments and that is when I got this pic of them both hanging around the box. Since then I have not caught sight of the female!! The male has been to the box looking in and sitting on fence nearby calling, then flies off - assuming to look for her.. I am hoping beyond hope that she is laying and going off by day, BUT, I have this awful feeling in the bottom of my stomach that something has happened to her. Yesterday, before I had my blinds open I heard a commotion from birds nearby but saw nothing untoward when I ran out to investigate. I am now really scared something happened to her at this time.
Please can any of you lucky camera box people tell me what sort of time does the female leave the box in the morning after laying? I intend to get up early tomorrow and keep watching in the hopes she is just away during the day.
the male has been to the box three times this morning just looking in but no sign of her - yet! Maybe I am panicking needlessly but you all know how it is. Thanks for reading and hope if I watch early tomorrow I will have seen her
Sue
