One of the unfortunate things about ageing is the fact that some of us can no longer do things we used to do, for various reasons. As far as gardening is concerned, my husband used to trim the ivy growing on our "Big Shed" with a very heavy, battery operated hedge trimmer but as from two years ago, he could no longer do it. I never could use it as it was much too heavy for me & being only 5' 1" tall, I would have had to stand on a step ladder. However, we bought my "second best friend" that same year & I have managed to trim the sides easily without standing on anything & it's not too heavy for me to use. I can't trim the ivy on the roof of course but to be honest we're not bothered about that anymore. I don't know whether I'm allowed to tell you the name of my friend or not, so I'd better not to be on the safe side!
