I caught a great tit checking out my new Robin wicker type nest box this morning. I suppose it might mean they are still on the look out for somewhere to nest....or it might have been looking for food amongst the ivy.
Meanwhile I had another very long visit from a bluetit in my garden nature fence box. Lots of tapping at the entrance from the inside, nest wriggles and all corners of the box checked out. There was also one looking in at the same time. I watched from the kitchen window and saw one bird having a quick peek hanging on the front of the Boxwatch box and then it flew across to the fence box. So the mystery continues. I did catch a bird in each box at the same time on the synchronised playback but it doesn't prove anything really.
