We left for Egypt with 6 healthy chicks.
We returned last Wednesday morning 15th June to find two dead chicks and three live ones. It was quite grisly to watch Mrs Blue Tit pull apart the bodies of the two dead ones in order to facilitate their removal from the box
.
We had to go away again for a few days to attend a funeral in Newark and returned to an empty nest. The DVR shows they fledged around 09:30 on Friday during the very hot day. I have clipped the three below they all looked quite healthy. Perhaps there were not enough natural food the week we were away and we believe the weather wasn't great. I left it too late to get some more mealworms before we went.
