We had a walk around our nearby Moorland woods this morning and took the opportunity to check out the 14 nest boxes we have sited up there over the years. We used a bluetooth Endoscope camera which poked into the entrance holes so as not to disturb the nestlings. Here are some pictures we took. Sadly the last picture shows some Great Tit chicks which look as though they were ready to leave but had all died. Looking at the way they are mostly on their backs, we suspect they have been recently predated by a weasel (we have spotted a few up there) which will no doubt return to remove the dead birds. Nature can be cruel.
The others look quite healthy and there were two boxes where it was obvious the birds had fledged.
