Some details here on configuring notifications. Config can be found under the Notifications tab under Profile/Edit. Must admit I am not that familiar with this forum software either so I haven't tried the notification stuff, and from first glance it doesn't look like there is a way to get notified about specific threads - although the fact that I couldn't find it doesn't mean that there isn't one! It looks like it is possible to get notified if a thread that you have contributed to is updated, although that might quite a broad brush for some!
