Really interested in your 16 channel HiKvision DVR....does your one have audio on any of the channels?
I was briefly looking into it last year, as I have the 4 channel HiKivison version, which is great, but wasn't aware at the time of purchase that it only comes with 1 audio channel. I wanted one with at least two for my two birdboxes....don't understand why they don't come with all channels with audio...?
I had a hikvision NVR, 4 channels and gave it to my brother as I wanted an 8 channel NVR. I bought an Annke NVR, which is a rebadged hikvision, so that may save you a few pennies! I think they do 16 channels. I use that purely for my cctv camera’s now. I only have one camera with audio and that works fine. My birdbox poe ip camera’s both worked fine with the audio too. My NVR is POE not bnc connections. I have not been able to get the birdbox camera’s to won’t with the Hik-connect app, which is a shame. I bought all my stuff from Amazon.
I also use a synology NAS, which has 2 camera licenses. (More optional at a cost though) I much prefer the Synology NAS for my nest box camera’s. It is great for motion detect alerts, live views. It will just play all the motion detects on after the other, email snapshots. It is easier to use on a tablet, I also can view on my tv, using my amazon fire stick. It has a lot more versatility that an NVR / DVR. You get audio on the cameras, and you can use it for much more than just recording / motion detect.....it is a server basically.
i will take a screen grab and show you the Synology NAS
i hope this helps
