Green Feathers support now in contact. Facing the prospect of sending camera back for technical investigations. 
Just looked at the wired version of the same camera and kind of thinking it's a much more sensible option - although for me it would involve drilling a hole in my wall (!), unless I tried using a powerline adapter (internet down the mains circuit).
