Hi Pete. Your guess is as good as mine really. The last 10 years my box has been in more or less the same place. A tree with the box facing east. The last 2 years we have had nests, but this was following 4 unsuccessful years with no takers.
This has been the fastest nest build we have had. because of the problems with cats over the last two years, we weren't even going to put the box up.
With a pair of great tits regularly visiting we put a box up on a standalone fence post, again facing east. They practically built the nest the next day.
