Bloody hell Matt, These two are giving you the run around this year aren't they?!  The female behaviour does remind me of my second female meggie though, The male doesn't really bother with her these days hes all for peacock who was his first female so not seen alot of him in the stone box lately. The weird thing is, Paul, that Tony showed no interest in this box at all in the run up to nesting. He was all about the three hole concrete box, and he would go in there 10 times a morning trying to call the female in. The only bird that went in this sideview was the female, and only a couple of time before nesting. Didn't even see Tony much when she was building the first time, but now he seems much more interested in it than her and keeps trying to call her in! Today was the first time she has gone in much since she stopped building, although she did pop in yesterday as well. It would be fascinating to know what they are doing the rest of the time.. but no return so far today after that activity. |
