On the subjects of cats our 17 house street at one time had over 30 cats between 5 houses! I witnessed many a killed bird especially fledglings. Our front garden became a toilet and there was nothing I could do about it. The smell was disgusting. Thankfully the cat loving people moved away and we only have a couple now who live at the bottom of the street. Personally I believe owners should keep their cats indoors. Its the mess they leave and they always do it away from their own homes.
Thanks for your opinions on cats Benn, as our front garden pongs for the same reason, so have to keep watering the cobbles. Other cats in the street spray my bushes too on their way to visit the unspayed female cat next door. The lady just keeps on and on letting this cat have one litter straight after another. I agree with you - cats should eiither be kept indoors OR taken out on a lead like dogs, who always get blamed for mess when their ignorant, lazy owners don't clean up their mess. I've never had a dog in my front garden - only this female cat & her many suitors.
