Oh Pete we were lucky enough to have Robins nesting in our house wall many years ago, we were doing some drainage in the garden and also we had taken a vent out in the wall and before we had time to put a new one in, the female had moved in. Every single day she hopped all the way along the fence from one end to the other, could never understand why she didn’t just fly straight to the hole, she was such a character, I think she had about 5 babies and when the workmen came to shift all the soil which had been dug out for the underground drainage they happen to be fledging so we put the workmen off and when we told them why they couldn’t continue for a couple of days they all laughed thinking we were joking! We paid them for the days they didn’t work, and then when the Robins had left garden we called them back to finish the job. We since put a box up just above the spot, but to no avail. Our Robins nested about July time though, not this early, but I don’t really know much about their nesting habits.
Good luck though Pete, they’r fantastic little birds
