We had a beautiful Spring day yesterday temps up to 16c but not one visit and so far none today either, but this time around I am not as bothered by that as last year around now the same happened after tons of visits and promising signs the visits just more or less just stopped to the point after a few weeks I switched the camera off, only thing different this year I have a rooster . They still come and feed and hang around in the tree. Then out of no where April 12th last year material started coming in, so fingers crossed its a repeat off last year Exactly the same here, Karen - frustrating, isn't it! Friday seemed to be "the day" here, when the sun came out, the wind dropped, and everywhere I could see pairs of birds flying around and hear them singing. It was also the day my box visits dropped from 5-10 per day over the previous week to a big fat zero. I know the sparrows and starlings are nesting now (some of them, at least), because I have seen them building. I haven't actually seen any evidence of the bluetits building yet, but I'm keeping an eye out. My only nest (3 years ago now!) started second week of April, too. I still don't really know if that is just when they start around here, or if they were late starters/second female/disturbed from a previous nest, or what. I must admit my confidence in getting a nest this year dropped from about 8/10 on Thursday to about by 2/10 today!! (2/10 is generous, btw). Hope I'm wrong, and I really hope you get a nest as well. What Pete said is right, though - still having a rooster must count for something.
