Sounds likely you could have a nest going on, Sparrows will nest in climbers like ivy.
They just build a dome type nest when they do this.
Our female sparrow isn't going out in rain today, She's been in box all morning playing with the nest material and having naps.
One thing I never noticed is how so much detail is in the sparrows feathers, Have a look at this picture of her cleaning herself the markings on the back feathers and the wing.
You really don't notice this detailing when you just see them in garden you just think there brown and that is it.
