But we have 5 huge Birch trees in our garden and I don’t see them pecking at the catkins much, although the male does seem to feed her green caterpillars when she’s incubating and we’ve no oak trees in the immediate vicinity.
Maybe where Chris Packham is in the New Forest there are more Birch than Oak Trees?
