Yes needs to be 12v I believe to be inline.
I don't think 8v will be big enough to power both the light and camera since it runs off the camera power.
I think your camera quality would weakening alot.
I mean you could email greenfeathers and ask but they do suggest to only inline with 12v cameras.
You could always buy one with the 12v plug for £15.49 and buy one of the DC power extender cables

But I know your cameras are wireless aren't they? Or atleast one of them so don't know if you'd want the wire for led light if your running wireless.
