I'll see if I can find the link for you or its on the BTO website. There is a wonderful owl call identification bit there even if you don't take part in the survey. I hadn't a clue about the different calls. The tawny owl survey just asks you to listen for twenty minutes once a week between sunset and midnight and record if you hear a tawny owl.
