Wow - sorry to hear that Paul! Sometimes it is such a trial watching these poor birds. Benn - I was Googling around about disturbing nests, and apparently birds will often take to a new nest box nearby if the entire nest + chicks are moved into it. Could this be worth a try? Do you have any suitable nest boxes that they could use? I understand what you are saying about the hassle your neighbours are going through, but maybe this could be an attempt at some sort of solution? I had a conversation with the neighbours this morning who are happy to try but I could only save one nest. However, the better news is that it is only the scaffolding going up on Monday. The roofers might not start for up to another 10 days due to a backlog of work and availability of enough of the right tiles. I think the chicks would be about 9 or 10 days old as they have been taking in food for about that long. So another 6 days at most they should have fledged and with the scaffolding in place I can stuff up the gaps with rags. I shall keep you updated
