Might be worth considering a DVR Paul with 8 or 16 inputs which then offers you a split screen. Obviously sound is an issue in that you can only have it from one box but it also streams to a smart phone so you can check on your little darlings whilst at work or out and about. 
I find I can set up motion detection to tell me when boxes are first visited a it sounds and alarm. This can be turned off for any channel/box when they start to build. The record and playback feature is also a boon. Mind if you are considering switching completely to IP cameras then an NVR would be needed.
