Thanks Paul - more useful info. How high is the internal ceiling from the centre of the entrance hole, do you have a rough idea? I think maybe they like it quite cosy in there, so long as it is big enough of course. The most popular boxes in the studies that Benn linked were circular inside and only 11-12cm in diameter - which seems tiny, but then bluetits are pretty tiny as well! Sideview boxes of the model we have are quite big inside, really.
