This has happened to me many times Bob, I have 3 nest boxes in my garden and many occasions the bluetit will start building in one then leave it halfway through then move on to build a complete nest and lay eggs, but I have often seen the blue tint still go and peep inside the half built nest which she’d started. I personally think it’s a distraction method, but that’s just my theory! But it has happened a lot.
