Just caught your thread Natalie, so welcome!!
You must be the first on the forum to have serious nest building going on. My GT started on the 19th but your BT nest looks as if there has been some activity for a few days before that.
Keeps us informed, especially as you will soon need to be keeping an eye glued for the first egg.

Oh Amanda do you think I have the first egg? Do you think it could be because Ive been feeding live mealworms for 2 weeks? They love them so much

Blimey Natalie, She is a fast one! You are 100% the first egg to be confirmed, 100% the first blue tit one that is for sure. Interesting about the mealworms, If you are feeding them alot they may know theres a good food supply without the leafs on the trees, So could very well be why she is cracking on with it all. I have never fed live mealworms this early, I always wait until a few days before eggs are due to hatch before feeding mealworms / waxworms.

Great news Natalie - Congratulations.
One advantage you have over my GT's nest is that Tuppence (and GT females as a rule) covers the cup before she leaves the nest in the mornings during the laying stage, so it's very difficult to tell whether there's any eggs in there or not.

Fantastic news Natalie . Think we’d all better get mealworms in earlier . Congrats on being the first. Sue

Great to see the first egg. I spend so much time looking at my boxes, there must be a name for us. i've got dried mealworms, don't want pigeons eating them so haven't put them out yet.

Congrats Natalie!
Twinkle it is not pigeons that eat our mealworms, but the starlings. Once they have clocked a new delivery, they descend en masse and polish the lot off within a few minutes.

She's going well Natalie! That almost looks like it could be 4 there, but I assume its 3?

Things going well for you Natalie - I've still not been able to see into Tuppence's cup, it seems to be covered all the time. This morning the camera switched on at 5am and she was already awake, stretching and pruning, the cup nicely covered over. I've set the timer for 4-30am for the rest of the time to see if I can catch her actually waking up! There could be three or four eggs in there, or none - I rather think the latter.
