Starting this thread so I don't get confused. This is a BT/GT sized nest hole and has had a BT rooster since September. This morning it is being cleaned out by the rooster! Wonder if it will be able to proceed to full term as I have never had two BT nests on the same elevation, remember the Sneaky Peg saga? war may break out. I watch and wait.

Looks like things are heating up in Kathy's garden! Wouldn't it be brilliant if you end up with all 3 of your boxes being used

Yes, it would Paul but somehow I don't hold much hope out for this one, especially if the couple in High Wall box 1 are dominant! By the way looked at my notes and find that this is the first year I have noticed female pecking frantically at the nest hole inside, so think this is a different pair but who really knows?
Unlike you I have not had any other species inspect my boxes this year, no GT's or Sparrows, Coal Tits why I wonder?

That's a wonderful photo Kathy & you never know, you may be lucky & get all your nest boxes occupied - fingers really crossed.

Good luck with both the boxes high and low. I've never had more that one nest in the boxes in one season Last year was the closest with a bit of. GT nest. I did one year though have Great Tits nesting successfully in a hole in the wall.

Sammi like you say I think it will be a tall order to have two BT nests even though rooster is clearing the waste matter from it. Probably a GT or Sparrow they would tolerate but I think once the higher box couple get wind of it they will oust their own kind to protect the food supply; unless it's two females to one male like Paul had. I remember your half nest as I mentioned in the calendar write up didn't I? I like your quote, it doesn't take much to stop me dusting, much more things in this short life we can be doing isn't there?

This always happens to me Kathy, 3 boxes but only get 1 nest as the dominant pair always ousts the other potential house hunters. As you will know I always seem to get a half built nest & then 1 full nest. I am lucky to even get one nest but I do wish I could have some of Paul’s luck Things are sure looking good for you though Kathy What’s your thoughts on an ‘early’ season this year?, people seem to be having lots of visits to say it’s early doors! Last year was late for me & even later for my brother. Elle xx

Early for me Elle although I think It's different for everyone on here and depends where you are. Yesterday I decided to clean what was left of the droppings which the rooster was cleaning out and had abandoned. I did a good job but left a few bits in case they recognise their own smell so to speak. Anyway thought that was it then who should turn up to roost last night, yes you've guessed it - the rooster don't know why I bothered! I am getting visits to this box during the daytime but don't feel very confident that it will go anywhere because of Flo. Yes, I do remember your nest situation and yes I think we all would like some of our Paul's luck especially Sue and her camera box!
