National nest box week is just around the corner, I always buy a few cheap boxes and put them up in my local woodlands. But I normally do this during January instead of February as we all know on here the birds start looking around alot earlier than mid / late February . I have always wondered why they have this week in February instead of maybe January coming for the bird experts All my boxes have been getting views from late December and during january visits have become more serious for a fair few of us.

I agree Paul it would be best to bring it forward to January, I am not sure how long this campaign has been running but perhaps the birds have changed their habits slightly and are looking sooner than they did years ago.

Incidentally I too have began putting the odd box up here and there, two have gone up at my work place, also two at my local cemetary, I plan on putting some more up in a local park soon. icon_biggrin The ones at work are getting lots of visits!

That is a fair point Karen, Just seen that in 2017 it was the 20th year anniversary of it. I guess alot as changed over 20 years with the nesting times so maybe this is the reason. I didn't think about that to be honest
