Paul for the link to the courtship, it made me giggle though as well - looks as though she bored him to death with her chattering - so he thought he'd get out before he did die!

Both there again this afternoon, Looks like the female is doing her version of a "nest wriggle" to make a hole in the stones.

How many do they normally have Diane? Is it three or four?

It was 3 last year, but one year they did have four eggs, but one of the falcons broke it, but all hatched & fledged successfully. In the past, there has been one egg laid the day after the first one but a couple of times, it's been 2 or possibly 3 days before the next one. I'm assuming that this pair will definitely have 3 eggs though.

Hello Elle, good question. Incubation is about 30 days or so - it starts the day before the last egg is laid, so one hatches the day after the others have hatched. Trouble is, on my numerous pop-ins today, she is still sitting in the nest so I don't know if there are any more eggs than the two I saw yesterday.

I was lucky & just managed to see the female still sitting on her eggs (2 last time I saw) when the male arrived back. She stood up & flew off & I managed to get this screenshot a few minutes ago - he's sitting on the eggs now.

I'm probably the only one who is still watching this Peregrine family now, but I thought I'd put a new piccie on of the nestbox, as the four chicks have grown up now, no longer ugly but beautiful teenagers!

Thanks for the pic Diane. They seem to suddenly turn into proper Perigrinea don't they. I checked in a few days ago and they were sort of half chicks still. Beautiful birds.
