Not the best of days to go Sammi - I hope they get on alright if they do take their chance today.

Hoping all fledgings go well what with the wet weather. I will be cleaning out night lodgers box if it doesn't come back by next weekend.

Well they are still there as far as I know as the nest canes has given up again...its been on and off all morning. The weather is blowing up again so maybe this afternoon it will settle again. So I'm camped out by the kitchen window with all forms if photographic gear on charge. Everything crossed. To add to the confusion the pair which nest elsewhere have brought their fledglings into the nearby trees. Happy days.😊

Hello Sammi & for the three photos which you managed to get & put on here (thanks to your camera too for keeping going!) they're lovely. I hope the weather is better for you today as you're hoping it will be & that poor May has managed to dry out - not from but from the downpours of rain. OK, you wrote: I hope she keeps them dry until tomorrow when they say the sun will come out. Is that a cue for yet another song from a musical?
Before replying to you, I racked my brains trying to think of one and the only one I got was "June is busting out all over" from "Oklahoma"? Probably wrong, so you can give me the correct answer.
P.S. I've done it again - didn't see these latest messages until just now! Hope the sun comes out this afternoon.

Diane I had to google it just now as all I could remember was the line 'the sun will come out tomorrow.....' It's from Annie and the lyrics are quite lovely. Anyway my nest camera continues to go off and on. Recent on spell showed the chicks resting. May is fattening them up on mealworms still. So will they won't they? I'm sure this is day 21 if you count the day I think they hatched. Oh well gives me a chance to clean the kitchen

Thanks Twinkle...our weather shows today as one of the better days with rain and cold coming in next week. So I think today may be the lesser of two evils. I'm sure May will make a good decision. I wonder the longest chicks have stayed in the nest for?

Thanks Sammi for letting me know about the song. Anyway, I don't suppose the chicks are going to fledge today, so possibly tomorrow, who knows? I have to go out tomorrow early to see our daughter in Nottingham, but will check in tomorrow late afternoon if I can. Thinking of you & for you , May & her family.

Well all three fledged this morning between 7.30 and 8.30. I managed to get some pics and video and I'll try to put them on the forum later today. A much quieter day weather wise.👍

So glad they’ve gone on a decent day, and you were able to see them go Sammi. Hopefully they won’t go too far and you’ll be able to watch them being fed. Much quieter here today also , hardly any wind and some sun. This morning we have had to keep the cat in as there must be at least three groups of blue tits feeding off bushes . She’s quite elderly but even she would be interested in Something fluttering a foot off the ground. Must be the lack of wind that has brought them out to feed more openly. Hope you are not feeling too sad with your little ones flying the nest. .😢

Thanks Sue. Yes the last few days were frustrating to say the least. I'll be sorting out a new camera for next year 😂

I have finally sorted out my boxes and cameras for the next season. I now have the two Gardenature boxes and I've upgraded the cameras in my two old Boxwatch boxes with Gardenature cameras. I've kept the one that was used last year in the same place but have moved the patio box further along the wall so that it is higher and further away from the patio traffic. Because I had a spare Boxwatch box this now has a new camera and is tucked in a little alcove on the opposite end of the patio wall. I will try to get some pics up in due course but I seem to be short on time these days. All cameras now feed into my aging pc and are monitored with icatcher software. Yesterday I saw a bluetit (I think) at the entrance to the fence box but the cameras weren't on so today I put them on early and sure enough I caught a visit in the patio box. Can't believe how much it lifted my heart. So pictures below if I can remember how. It took me a while but I remembered how to post pics. I try to keep up with posts from you all but spare time is scarce at the moment.

Lovely Sammi, That little blue tit as a marking on its face aswell so be easy to tell apart from others, I like it when that happens! I think you'll get a rooster soon!

Belated thanks for the comments Paul and Matt. Gosh that was back in October and it's December already Well ive got a female rooster in one box at the moment and daily visits to that box and the new position one that's at the other end of the wall. I think it's the same bird checking them out. Maybe the rooster? The one with the mark on its cheek has either grown new feathers over the mark or moved on. It would be nice to have one that was easily recognised. The he colour one is the patio garden nature box which has been moved to the end of the wall. The b/w pic is the old Boxwatch box with new GN camera. I'm thinking to put some lighting in this one before the season starts. So I thought I'd pop on here and wish you all a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A WONDERFUL NESTING NEW YEAR

Thanks for the latest news Sammi & as you say, a lot is happening for you at the moment but things look promising. In respect of your lie down, that's a good idea if you're going out tonight
We're staying in & watching TV so very boring I know, but happy memories of previous years spent in Pitlochry & dancing with the local Laird who was wearing a kilt of course! Plus many Christmases & New Years staying in a flat in Penzance, visiting Mousehole etc. for their NY celebrations.
