Hi Paul Here is a little video of Mr Starling, not much different to the last film but this is the 8th & final visit today, in the afternoon too! I have had some flashing on two occasions but bird didn't go in unfortunately.Really hope his Mrs likes the box when the time comes to get serious expect it's all down to her choice in the end. Any views yet for yours as I know it is something you have added this year?

Just watched the video, Can't keep still starlings can they? He looks really interested though so lets hope the Mrs is! I'd love you to get a starling nest this year. And no starling visits, Had a handful of male sparrow visits and a little blue tit was on the front of the box this morning. Anything but a starling at the moment But it did only go up in the middle of this month I can't expect things to happen that fast. If nothing happens this year for the box for me always nest year I suppose

Oh that is nice Paul a Junior member wish I could say I was! See how things go over the weekend (BIG GARDEN BIRD WATCH DAY) might have more to report. Any visits to your Starling box yet? The interweb says they don't nest till about March so we both have lots of time before we fall to our knees in disappointment. Wish we could send good vibes out to all members boxes cos I feel awful having all this to say. Have a good weekend all. cheer How did your bird watch go? I didn't have much luck. My problem, getting the correct time to birdwatch. Watching Winterwatch.

Sparrows are in the roof of the houses at the end of our garden in the next road. We have a bluetit using our bird box, and others feeding at the feeders. Also robin pops in. Had GT in garden but not in box.

Hi Twinkle It was quite good although I couldn't do my full hour due to going out shopping but the usual crowd turned up for breakfast. Starlings are losing their roof spaces due to the installation of plastic soffitts etc so one of the reasons why I put up a box. Good to hear you have had a little BT interest, we woke up to hard white frost this morning so not expecting much action today! Keep us posted of any developments want to see how BT interest sweeps across the country when it kicks off!

Wow - 7 visits! I can't answer your question I'm afraid, but I'm delighted that things are going so well at the moment - long may it continue. Must have clicked the wrong thingy today, as I replied to a previous post of yours. I've just seen your lovely video of the 8th visit - wonderful!

OG I shall be ready and eager and although the box is close to my bedroom window the noise won't be for very long will it? Starling has been in the box many times today again and I see on one visit it was taking some droppings out. However, as I cannot tell which bird is which I am assuming that was female? the only benchmark I have is the BT behaviour!

Well Diane had some more visits yesterday despite the frosty weather one visit with slight change of behaviour so things may be progressing I don't know! It's all a learning curve at the moment. Technology - the mic on the camera seems to be playing up but don't want to fiddle with it in case I get a nest and can't hear anything at all! Any luck your end yet?

No luck at all yet Kathy, these last few days we've only seen pigeons, sparrows & blackbirds in the garden - suppose they are tougher. It's as though all the blue & great tit families have hibernated, none at all on the seed or fat balls. Even the pesky squirrels are missing - mind you I don't blame them!

Thanks elle the more I read about them the more interesting they get, had more visits yesterday by both starling and bt couple. I see you have managed to post a picture, I said you could do it. It appears that you view the photo's or video remotely by the link given prior to posting. I'm sure Paul or Matt will put me right if I'm wrong? Good luck with your boxes. Diane Sorry about your absence of wildlife, getting a tad warmer next week so that may jeer them up a bit for you

Going to be 8c all week in Liverpool this coming week apparently Monday - Saturday weather I can see so far. Big step up from the minus we have been seeing lately so activity could peak for us all next week with the milder temps

That sounds great Paul, if so I'll be getting my batho' out of mothballs! Had 9 VISITS!!!!! today something gotta be happening I don't know about? Perhaps something might happen next week then. Apparently Benn says I am to look out for token gestures by the male who will I believe start to build then the female takes it all out and builds her own design, go on girl!!! Fingers crossed for your box too you might beat me to it knowing you!!!

Oh wow Kathy, things are really happening with your starlings & I'm thrilled to pieces for you. Our snow & ice has finally melted this morning at the front of the house, plus the back garden lawn & side borders, but the steps directly down from the house to the patio, the patio itself, plus the step down from there into the garden is still too deadly with ice for us to dare going out, as I have broken two bones in my feet in the past & I don't want a third. The birds have had access to food but not water, as our pond is still frozen over from last week, so hopefully tomorrow will thaw the lot.

Oh no Kathy, I highly doubt I'll be getting a starling nest this year, At this rate if the box is used it be by a sparrow! But we will see as the season goes on with the starling box.

Spike is still coming to the box regularly several times daily. Unfortunately don't know if he has grabbed a female yet but this morning he moved to the back of the box and crouched down as if to make room for a female. He waited a while but she didn't join him. Hubbie is going to try and connect a camera pointing to the box from our cctv system I wait with bated breath for developments! Spike in the box this morning crouching down for the female, but those that pass shout 'You're ugly go away!! Ring any bells chaps? (just joking)

Yes, Sue I shall be saddened for Spike if he is unsuccessful with the girls but it's early yet. I have learnt that the male beak has a blueish tinge to it while the female has pink, similar to Budgies I think! How is it going your end I am trying to catch up with all posts.

Diane Glad the pond has thawed out hopefully that will be the end of that type of weather and there are no casualties?
Sammi, Thank you I have my fingers crossed as usual yes it would be nice to view a different nest this season.
