Interesting. It's feasible for me to send CAT5 and a router to the shed if needed, but on the whole it's been acceptable at 50%+ signal. If it happens again needing power cycle I may consider.
More concerning though - something I have noticed since you mentioned mine might be an older model - the frame rate is definitely not the quoted 20. I'm getting 9.750fps on the stream via VLC atm!

My frame rate was pretty low, too (around 5 FPS I think!) Haven't checked it on the new model. There are two rtsp streams though, one better quality than the other - on your version stream0 and stream1 (if it's the same model as my old one).

I wonder if again that is limited by signal. I've asked GF anyway.

GF now confirm the lack of audio I'm experiencing is not just my camera... they've tested another one of the same version with the same outcome. Waiting to hear more from them.

Ah, hopefully it's a software fix. Not had a response from them myself since Friday. Who did you speak to?

If it's a software fix I'm not sure how my camera could be updated without taking it down - they don't make it possible to access remotely unfortunately. Be lovely if they released a proper web interface for it as per zillions of security camera brands.

No pun intended I guess Pete. Speaking of which, listening to the sheet of snow slowly sliding of the roof of my box is interesting. Looking at -7 here tonight apparently so this could be the next test for the camera.

Looking at -7 here tonight apparently so this could be the next test for the camera. It wasn't intended but quite appropriate! Although GF is in Bristol so I don't think they've had too much actual snow. Oh let's hope these cameras can survive the cold... I do wonder if that's what did for my old one.

Camera is good! Actually rated for -20 anyway.
Having a bit of an ethical dilemma at the minute about whether to remove the 25mm plate to increase chances this season. Still only 3 short visits from BTs - heads popping in but no entries - and it does seem to me like they were struggling. Plenty of GTs about so seems a shame to leave them out as well. What do people think? The plate is an Avonstar one and definitely 25mm but only just.

Hi John
I know Blue Tits can enter through 25mm as I have several mounted in our local moorland woods which have been used by Blue Tits. 28mm is a good compromise which both species can cope with.

Thanks Benn, unfortunately another visit this morning where the bird was definitely trying and failing to squeeze through, so erred on side of caution now and have a 28mm plate on the way.

28mm won't hurt, John. I had same issue myself a few years back when I ended up widening a 25mm hole because it seemed like the bluetits couldn't quite get in. I did end up with a nest in that box that year as well!

Looks like this year is off for my box. Bees nest might still be possible though!
